Obama, Ideology, Partisanship & "Dealignment" in the 2008 Presidential Election
... discussing to what extent the Obama victory is inconsistent with the idea of "dealignment" and a decline of party affiliation in America. The short answer seems to be that the victory may well have some ideological relevance which may or may not translate into increased level of party identification.
