Spidey Artist Screws Up The Web Shoot

Marvel Super Heroes #14: in 1968, Spider-man artist John Romita sprained his wrist. So they commissioned Ross Andru to sub. Luckily, Romita was still able to make his deadline. So ASM never missed a beat. But, they had the extra issue that Andru drew. So they put it in Marvel Super-Heroes #14. Trouble is, Andru seems to have forgotten how to draw Spidey's web shoot. Look at his hands. He's supposed to be pressing a button in the palm of his hand with his middle finger(s). True Spidey aficionados will see the glaring mistake in the palms.

Gwen Stacy's Father Critically Injured

ASM 90: Unbelievably, Stan Lee decides to kill off the first of a key figure in the Spider-man story. A total shocker. Captain Stacy had begun to play a role in Peter's life that was similar to what his Uncle Ben had played. At least, it was heading that way: he was acting as a father figure as Peter dated Gwen. True to form, Parker's innocent, yet reckless, approach in single-handedly confronting evil in public wherever and whenever he can -- because, to him, it is his duty -- led to a set of unpredictable events, resulting in the death of Gwen's father.

Captain Stacy Knew Who Spider-Man Was

ASM 90: Although we are not exactly sure when he found out -- could have been very recently or perhaps quite a few issues ago -- Gwen's father reveals, at death, who Spiderman is.

Captain Stacy Dies

ASM 90: Who knew that this would end up being the smaller of the two main tragedies to come?
